Why STRIDE Equine Therapy?

After 16 years of providing equine therapy services at EKG Stables in Peter’s Creek, Southcentral Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (STRIDE) moved to the Mat-Su Valley to better meet the growing needs of the participants.  In March 2012, STRIDE moved 2 horses, totes full of tack, and an abundance of enthusiasm to The Ridge, LLC in Wasilla.

Our instructors are required to be certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) or the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA). Both CHA and PATH are committed to safe, ethical, and professional equine assisted therapy and have over 60 years of experience in therapeutic riding. STRIDE instructors consult with licensed medical and mental health providers to ensure safety and maximum therapeutic value for each participant.  STRIDE is a PATH center member.

The services provided include clinics and extended therapeutic riding sessions with our community members with special needs.

Other services have included Girl Scout events, fundraising birthday pony parties, Veteran’s group riding, and many opportunities for volunteers. STRIDE has been fortunate to collaborate with many community partners.

STRIDE provides primarily small group sessions, occurring one hour per week for six weeks.  Each rider is assisted by a team of trained volunteers; including a horse leader, side-walkers, and spotters as needed for successful experiences with the horses.
